Towards a student-centred classroom (Events)

A one-day interactive conference for school principals and heads of department, hosted by University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations (ESOL), under the patronage of the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).

Student-centred approaches to learning are at the forefront of current thinking in education and have led to widespread discussion amongst teachers, principals and the media.

This one-day interactive conference will explore some of the latest research into student-centred approaches from the University of Cambridge. It will look at the vision of ADEC to implement student-centred learning approaches in schools across Abu Dhabi and provide an insight into the Cambridge Approach to student-centred education from CIE and ESOL.

A student-centred education approach has a positive impact on both learning and teaching. Cambridge is at the forefront of international education, supporting ADEC in their goal of education reform and giving students access to affordable, internationally recognised qualifications.

This conference aims to:

  • highlight the research findings of the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education, one of the leading Faculties in the world, and give delegates the opportunity to put these findings into practice
  • support the UAE’s education initiatives
  • encourage open debate and dialogue around the issues of student-centred education and environments
  • share best practice with educators at all levels, with presentations by ADEC, University of Cambridge, schools support organisations and teachers
  • actively engage in debate and discussion with Public Private Partnership (PPP) and Model schools.
