International House developed some of the first training courses for teachers of English and other languages, and has continued to innovate both in pre-service training and teacher development. The internationally recognised CELTA training course is based on a course originally developed by IH, as the Iinternational House Certificate, and then taken forward by the RSA and UCLES (now CambridgeESOL).  IH helped to create the standards for Teacher Training in Language Education and continues to innovate in training teachers of all languages
